The Rebel 2007
Installation with projection, and wall painting the same size as the projection, on the opposite wall. In 1913 the suffragette Emily Wilding Davison got killed while attempting to pull down King George V's horse in the Derby Horse Race. The installation consists of a newsreel from this event and a black wall painting with white letters spelling: the rebel. The suffragette were a group of women fighting for women's right to vote in England. They often used violent methods to draw public attention to their cause. Shown at Open House Iaspis, January 2007 |
